Friday, May 28

The next board meeting is scheduled for June 4th at 7 pm. Could those people who are not able to come please email Geoff at gm@themontgomerytheatre.com

The full court press talked about at the last meeting was designed to raise $49,000 by the end of May - which is now. That amount seemed scary and nearly impossible then.

We now have in our office contracts or letters from various government agencies for over $70,000. None of these agencies have sent money yet - including the provinical government which has said the cheque is in the mail since mid April.

The payment for this months BDI repayment ($10,000) has been delayed anticipating the government money. This amount is now in our account in sponsorship and ticket sales revenue so we are going to pay it today and wait for the Provinces cheque to arrive on its own time.

We need a plan to turn these signed government contracts and letters into cash. Waiting for these government cheques to arrive nearly killed us last year. They promise to do the same this year. We propose going back to BDI to see if they will extend our loan and at what cost. We can talk about this on Monday.

ACT (A Community Theatre) likes the idea of buying out a performance of a show and selling the tickets as a fundraisier for their club. They will get back to us in a week. We will hear from the Heart and Stroke people about the same plan on Monday. As of yesterday, they like the plan and were awaiting approval from their fundriaising committee. It is a really simple and eay way for a group to raise $10,000.

The sponsorship for Maud of Cavendish at Green Gables is on offer to Kindred Spirits in Kensington. This is a terrific opportunity for a company, so we will have to move on if they don't agree to this by next Monday (This sponsorship includes large signs with the sponsors name on them at the site and throughout the National Park including at the beaches - so it is quite attractive to the right people)

Arnold has had a talk with Chris Buote, the son of the owner of Home Hardware in Rustico, who is one of our big creditors. We will put an ad in this year's Playbill and they wish us well with this season -in hopes of being repayed at the end of it. Walter has has a number of conversations with the owner, Wayne Buote, who feels the same.

A minor miracle will be required to hire these actors and stage managers, cost these designs and get everyone here and working in two weeks while raising the rest of these group sales and sponsorships.

So I am going to count on you folks to keep the ticket sales going. Thanks Cheryl, Maxine and Gracie for buying those opening night tickets. Jennie Macneil and Mrs Ellis sent in their money for their tickets yesterday, and the sponsors tickets have been put on hold- ao the good seats are almost gone. Book your seats now if you are coming to the opening nights (and we hope you are) and let your friends know that now is a good time to buy online or call.

We will give further updates on Monday night.

D.
